Holiday Fun!

Now that things have settled down a bit from all the traveling, I thought I would post a few pics of the last few weeks. As usual, we headed to Kansas a few days before Christmas. The weather was ok, cold, but no real snow or ice on they way, which was a blessing. Growing up in Kansas all my life, snow does not thrill me anymore. I don't' mind it, but it just doesn't do anything for me. However, my dear husband hopes that each year, we will get a blizzard while back home. The forecast called for some snow on Christmas Eve night, but nothing happened. Christmas Day nothing either. Sorry, honey, maybe next year!

Andrew had alot of fun this year at Christmas. He was really into our Christmas Tree and Santa. He still talks about them. He was sad when we had to take the tree down at home, but we assured him that next year, it will be put up again. I am loving this age! Andrew gets so excited about the little things, and it make me smile!

Fall

It has been awhile since my last post, I guess I was a little busier than I thought!

Around Halloween, we took Andrew to Boo at the Zoo in Fort Worth. We figured we would give it a try and see if it was worth all the hype. It was definitely fun, but not sure it was worth what we paid to get in. Andrew had a great time looking at the animals, but once it got dark, he sorta lost interest in everything. I think Andrew was a little overwhelmed with everything that was going on. Maybe we will go back again when he is a little older.

Andrew was a Fireman for Halloween. He is obsessed with fire trucks right now. We pass a fire station on our way to school everyday and he always wants to know where the trucks are at. When he hears a siren outside, he wants to know if the trucks are coming to our house. I frantically tell him I hope not!


Last weekend, we decided to have some pictures taken of Andrew for the Holidays. He was such a trooper. The studio was running way behind schedule (thank goodness for lego tables), but once we finally got into get our pictures taken, he did a great job. Here are a couple of the good ones.

Pumpkin Patch

This weekend we took Andrew to a local pumpkin patch. We went last year, but he was too young to enjoy any of the activities, it was more of a picture opportunity for mom. This year, was a completely different experience. The minute Andrew saw there was room to run, he was gone. Then, he saw all the fun stuff to do, mainly the playground area. So, in between climbing up the slide and going down, I managed to get a couple pictures of him. He is used to my picture taking, so he sits down long enough to say, "cheese" then gets up and is off to do something he wants to do. We let him run for a little bit, then we went on the search for the perfect pumpkin...our idea was a little different than Andrew's idea of the perfect pumpkin, so we met in the middle. Now, everytime he seems the pumpkin at home, he thinks it is trash. Not sure why, but he says "yuck" and walks away. Halloween this year should be interesting!

I LOVE FALL

Yesterday was the first day of fall. I love this time of year. Not that we really have "seasons" in Texas, but at least it isn't 100 degrees anymore. We can actually go outside and play and run around and it is enjoyable. I am not sure at what point in my life I started to hate the heat because when I was a little girl, I was outside 12 hours a day during the summer and it didn't phase me one bit. I was even that way in college. I could go to those all day music festivals and not even think twice about sitting in the sun for hours, until the next day when I was bright red and had blisters all over...that is when I thought about it. Maybe it was the alcohol that made me think I was okay, who knows.

Fall to me also means football. I love football. I get all giddy when we get a K-State game on TV. (And yes, even though the Chiefs are sucking it up big time this year, I still pay attention to them.) The Alumni club in Dallas-Ft. Worth is pretty big so there are multiple watch parties going on. However, now that we have Andrew we don't go to those very much anymore. His attention span isn't quite where it needs to be yet to allow mom and dad to enjoy the game in public. At home we can at least occupy him with something long enough to get most of the game in, or we allow our friend TIVO to step in and take over things for awhile. TIVO was invented to parents. On the weekends, I proudly wear a K-State shirt wherever we go. I get some evil looks and someone always makes some comment about being in the wrong place, but deep down, I know where the root of their anger is coming from, so I take the high road and just ignore them.

Lazy Sunday

Today was a beautiful day outside, much better than yesterday. However, yesterday wasn't as bad as they had predicted. Ike didn't bring us as much rain/wind as they had said it would late last week. We did get some much needed rain, and it was drizzly most of the day, but no real high winds. We did find out that Andrew loves running around in the rain. Yes, I know, as parents we shouldn't let him, but he was having so much fun and he didn't do it that long. Plus, it allowed him to get out of the house for a little bit.

Andrew and I went for a walk today after he woke up from his nap. He still likes to ride in the stroller and point out all the big cars and trucks as we talk by them. He knows his colors now so every time he points out a car or truck we ask him what color it is. Darn the cars that are silver...that seems to be the a color he has issues with, and on our street, every other car is silver! I was such a proud mom the other night too, I asked him what his favorite color was, and without any prompts by me, he said PURPLE! I think I got a tear in my eye. :)

There is a hurricane a coming...

So, I guess there is this storm brewing in the gulf. Maybe you have heard of it, his name is Ike. I am not one to get overly excited and jump to conclusions, but for some reason, this storm is scaring me a little. Where we live, we won't get the worst of the storm, but we will get lots of rain and wind. I think the wind part is what worries me. So, being the good mom that I am, I am trying to prepare for the "what ifs". What if the power goes out for awhile?, that is my main concern. So, against all my beliefs, I will to be at the grocery store tonight along with all the others who think the world might end this weekend. However, I don't think the world will end, it will just get a little nasty. My husband on the other hand thinks the world just might end, especially if our Direct TV does not work come Sunday at 11am! I think he is ready to pack the car and head north solely for that reason.
